Hunter McGee Tabbed CACC Men’s Golf Player of the Week

Thanks to yet another solid display on the course, Goldey-Beacom freshman Hunter McGee (Carp, ON) has been named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Golf Player of the Week.
 
McGee dazzled Monday and Tuesday by winning the Griffin Invitational, shooting 76 and 72 for 148 to cruise by nine shots for his second career triumph.  His final-round 72 is one off his career best and was aided by holing out for eagle from just over 100 yards on the 18th hole, which was not his final hole during the shotgun format.
 
McGee was the only player out of the 35 not to shoot over par in the final round, averaging 4.25 strokes overall on the par fours and 4.50 on the par fives.  All of this helped toward his first win since capturing the Griffin Invitational during the fall of 2019 as part of his four top-10 finishes in 2019-20.
 
Goldey-Beacom, playing with just four competitors, won the tournament by two shots in a seven-team field that featured six CACC schools.  Pablo Saenz Avila (Bogota, Colombia) was tied for fifth with 159, fellow freshman Camilo Samur (Bucaramanga, Colombia) closed eighth with 160 and freshman Mason Kucy (Camrose, AB) ended tied for 19th with 174.
 
Goldey-Beacom once again will face a competitive field April 12 at the Mike Bello Invitational, hosted by Le Moyne College, as it expects to go against the best from the East Region.
