Freshman Hunter McGee (Carp, ON) captured medalist honors for the second time in his collegiate career and Goldey-Beacom once again exceled by grabbing first place at the Griffin Invitational in Plymouth Meeting, PA.

McGee fed off Monday's 76 in the opening round by shooting 72, one off his career best, to end with 148 and comfortably win by nine shots.  He was the only player out of the 35 not to shoot over par in the final round, he averaged 4.25 strokes overall on the par fours and 4.50 on the par fives.

The key stroke for McGee was on the 18th hole, where he holed out from just over 100 yards for an eagle.  It was not his final hole of the day in the shotgun format.

Ironically, McGee's first win also was at the Griffin Invitational.  He shot 147 that included 73 in the fall of 2019 as part of his four top-10 finishes in 2019-20.

Pablo Saenz Avila (Bogota, Colombia) closed tied for fifth with 159, including a final-round 77, and fellow freshman Camilo Samur (Bucaramanga, Colombia) was eighth with 160 that included a final-day 77.  Freshman Mason Kucy (Camrose, AB) was tied for 19th with 174.

Playing with just four competitors, Goldey-Beacom carded 308 and ended the championship with 641 for its third tournament win over the last two seasons.  Felician was second with 643 as it and GBC were among the six Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference schools in the seven-team field.

Goldey-Beacom once again will face a competitive field April 12 at the Mike Bello Invitational, hosted by Le Moyne College, as it expects to go against the best from the East Region.
