The resume of Goldey-Beacom freshman Hunter McGee (Almonte, ON) took a whole new turn as he made history in winning the 2021 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Golf individual title and help his squad end second.

McGee shot even-par 71 for a second straight day to close at 142, getting two birdies on the front nine to go out in 37 and one on the back to come in at 34.  The reigning CACC Player of the Year and two-time all-league pick ended the 36-hole championship firing one-under par on the par-three holes and three under on the par fives.

Matthew Pulgini of Wilmington (DE) ended second with 144.

It is McGee's fourth collegiate victory, not to mention last summer he won his second straight Ottawa Citizen Golf Championship.  He also is the sixth for the Lightning to win an individual golf championship with 2017 GBC Hall-of-Famer Michael Tobiason capturing four straight (2003-06) and Steven Cutler sharing the 2006 crown with Tobiason.

Goldey-Beacom as a team ended tied for first with 594, but Wilmington won the tiebreaker which stipulates the highest individual score from the final round is used.  Sophomore Carlos Riveras (Margarita Island, Venezuela) shot 84 for the Lightning, but Pablo Quintero carded 80 for the Wildcats.

This marks the second time in three years the Lightning ended second as they also did so during the 2019-20 campaign.

Freshman Mason Kucy (Camrose, AB) had another solid day with 74 to finish tied for sixth with 149.  He birdied the 14th and 16th holes to claw back into the mix, ending at 34 on the inward nine.

Freshman Camilo Samur (Bucaramanga, Colombia) had the squad's second-best round Tuesday with 73, finishing tied for 11th at 151.  He amassed three birdies on the day and carded 36 on the back nine.

Freshman Pablo Saenz Avila (Bogota, Colombia) ended tied for 20th with 157 and Riveras was tied for 25th with 160.

Goldey-Beacom from October 15-16 will compete at the Le Moyne Fall Invitational in Syracuse, NY.
