(results)

Goldey-Beacom braved some brutal New England weather and a challenging field to own a two-shot lead after round one of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship in Watertown, CT.

Freshman Hunter McGee (Almonte, ON) continued to be the story for the Lightning as he is tied for first place with 71.  He birdied the par-five first hole as part of shooting 37 on the front nine before getting birdies on 10 and 12, both par fours, to come in at 34.

This is familiar territory for McGee, who is the reigning CACC Player of the Year and has been named all-conference each of the last two seasons.  He already has three top-four finishes over his four tournaments this fall.

Goldey-Beacom ended with 300 to lead Wilmington by two shots, Post by five and Dominican (NY) by six.  Alejandro Gomez from Dominican (NY) joins McGee with the clubhouse lead.

Freshman Mason Kucy (Camrose, AB) carded 75 and sits tied for sixth, which includes him tied with a tournament-high 13 pars.  His round included a birdie on the par-five 16th hole and playing the front nine in a one-over-par 37.

Sophomore Carlos Riveras (Margarita Island, Venezuela) shot 76 and is tied for ninth.  This included a birdie on the par-four 12th hole as he shot a two-under-par 37 on the inward nine.

Freshman Camilo Samur (Bucaramanga, Colombia) had a 78 on his scorecard and is tied for 12th.  He notched 12 pars on the round and fired a three-over-par 38 on the back nine.

Freshman Pablo Saenz Avila (Bogota, Colombia) carded 81 and is tied for 27th.  He shot 37 on the inward nine with a birdie coming on the par-five 16th.

Final-round action begins Tuesday at 8:30 am with a tee-time format.  Goldey-Beacom will be in the final groups with Wilmington and Post, starting at 10:00 am.

Originally scheduled to be a 54-hole championship, rain Monday forced the day to be reduced from 36 holes to 18.
