Senior Amanda McGrogan (Mount Laurel, NJ) capped her outstanding career in being named second team All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference a second consecutive year and her Women's Basketball squad also was honored in capturing the league's Sportsmanship Award.

McGrogan was one of many shining stars for the women's basketball team over her four seasons with her outstanding scoring ability, court awareness, defense, instincts and the will to make everyone around her better.  Her overall determination left a mark on the program for years to come.

Her play this season was one of the many reasons the Lightning were in contention to make the CACC Tournament.  She is 58th in the country with 4.3 assists per game, 81st with 102 free throws, 84th with an .823 free throw percentage, eighth in the league with 16.1 points per game and fifth with 100 assists.

McGrogan this season scored in double figures 18 times, including career bests Saturday of 32 points and 11 assists in Goldey-Beacom's 73-70 victory at Wilmington.

During her all-conference season in 2018-19, McGrogan was 52nd in the country with 17.8 points per contest and was picked to the league's all-tournament team.  Goldey-Beacom that season advanced to the conference semifinals after upsetting North Division champion Dominican (NY) in the quarterfinals.

McGrogan ends her prolific stint in Pike Creek eighth in school history with 1,299 points, third with 343 assists, fourth with 324 free throws, tied for sixth with 103 three-pointers, seventh with 136 steals and eighth with 436 field goals.

Goldey-Beacom has had a presence in the community through GBC Cares, the department's community service arm.  The squad over the last three seasons has helped promote goodwill by providing care packages for elementary school kids at the Food Bank of Delaware in New Castle and the last two years has worked with fifth graders at Highlands Elementary School in Wilmington.  During the latter, the players worked with students in small groups and taught the importance of arithmetics.

The squad also has lent a hand in Stop Hunger Now, assisting with the Ronald McDonald House and participating in Chillin4Charity.

Goldey-Beacom this season opened against some of the best teams in the country before ending with victories in eight of its last 12 contests.
