Goldey-Beacom women's basketball hosted Bridgeport in the final game of the season and were down to the wire with the Purple Knights before falling, 69-65. The Lightning also honored their four seniors, Rory Ciszkowski, Gaia Zimbardo, Karlee Lemon, and Azra Ozgul, before the game.
The first half of play saw back-and-forth action from the two teams, with GBC going into halftime with a four point lead. Bridgeport came out strong in the third quarter, limiting the Lightning to only five points, while scoring 21 themselves. Goldey-Beacom responded to the defensive pressure in the fourth quarter, but narrowly missed the comeback, giving Bridgeport their 10th win of the season and eighth conference victory.
Goldey-Beacom was led by Ciszkowski with 26 points and eight rebounds. This ends an outstanding four-year career for Ciszkowski, a third team All-CACC pick in 2024. She graduates first in school history with 279 three-pointers, ninth with 1,281 points and owns three of top five single-season marks in school history for 3-pointers.
Sophomore Marasia Dyes (Binghamton, N.Y.) notched 16 points with six rebounds, and sophomore Lydia Betz (Pittsburgh, Pa.) added 10 points.
Niyah Whitten scored 19 points, Zahkiyyah Frazier had 14 and 12 rebounds with Savannah Prescott adding 13 points for the Purple Knights.
