Super Six For Goldey-Beacom Among the CACC Weekly Honorees

The beginning of the spring season and the latter stages of the winter campaign saw the display of six Goldey-Beacom student-athletes among the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference weekly award winners.
 
Senior Kasey Goshorn (Salisbury, MD) was picked the Softball Player of the Week and freshman Brooke Conaty (Wilmington, DE) was tabbed the sport's Rookie of the Week.  Senior Tevin Thomas (Dover, DE) was named Baseball's Player of the Week and senior Bailey Spence (Newark, DE) was picked to the sport's Weekly Honor Roll.  Women's Basketball senior Amanda McGrogan (Mount Laurel, NJ) and Men's Basketball junior Marcellus Livingston (Linden, NJ) each were picked to their sport's Weekly Honor Roll.
 
Goshorn batted .444 (8-for-18) on the week with a double and a home run.  She recorded a hit in all six Myrtle Beach contests, including a 2-for-2 showing Friday against Seton Hill and getting two hits Saturday versus Millersville in her team's 8-1 win.
 
In Sunday's game against Southern Connecticut State, Goshorn became the 29th player in school history to reach 100 career hits.
 
Conaty batted .294 (5-for-17) with a double, triple and a home run.  She ended with two hits, a double and a home run Saturday against Millersville.
 
Thomas batted .444 (4-for-9) on the week with a double and five RBI.  In game one Sunday at Limestone, he rapped three hits that included four RBI and a stolen base in Goldey-Beacom's 11-1 rout and the first 3-0 start in team history.  Thomas also recorded an RBI double Saturday in the Lightning's 2-1 victory during their opener with the Saints.
 
One of the most durable and reliable players in the program's brief history, Thomas has been a mainstay in Goldey-Beacom's lineup.  He entered the season in the school's top 10 in batting average, hits, RBI, home runs, doubles, runs, stolen bases, walks and putouts.
 
Spence tossed six solid innings on Sunday at Limestone, striking out four and allowing just a run and four hits for his first collegiate win.
 
Spence a season ago tossed 14 innings over 11 contests, striking out 17 with a .255 batting average against.
 
McGrogan averaged 22.5 points, 4.5 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 4.0 steals over two games.  She scored 21 points Wednesday that included 14 in the fourth quarter, helping Goldey-Beacom rally from 18 points down for a stunning 62-60 win at Holy Family.  McGrogan came back with 24 points on 7-of-9 shooting and went 10-for-11 from the line Saturday against Dominican.
 
McGrogan is eighth in school history with 1,259 points, third with 329 assists, tied for fourth with 316 free throws, tied for sixth with 103 three-pointers, seventh with 132 steals and ninth with 420 field goals.  She has Goldey-Beacom (8-15, 8-7 CACC) fifth in the CACC South Division and one game out of a conference-tournament spot.
 
Livingston averaged 19.0 points and 7.5 rebounds over two games to go with five assists, four 3-pointers and four steals.  He had 20 points and nine rebounds Wednesday at Holy Family before getting 18 and six Saturday vs. Dominican.
 
Livingston is 10th in team annals with 1,091 points and fourth with 148 three-pointers.  Goldey-Beacom (12-12, 9-6) is tied for second in the CACC South Division, 2 1/2 games ahead of Wilmington (DE).
