Goldey-Beacom excelled at The ACE Club on Monday in a tri-match with Jefferson University and Bryn Athyn. The Lightning took home first in the Jefferson Rams Classic in Lafayette Hill, PA and freshman Gonzalo Moreno (Sevilla, Spain) carded first place.
An outstanding round by the whole team, the Lightning were lead by Moreno who shot a career-best 68 to take first place which is the first tournament he has won at Goldey-Beacom. Moreno is now tied for fourth-best round in team history.
Senior Braden Wheeler (Carleton Place, ON) had a great first outing of the year, shooting 73 to take second place overall and tying his career best from last year's Jefferson Rams Classic.
Freshman Pablo Saenz Avila (Bogota, Columbia) carded 75 to take home third place, freshman Hunter McGee (Carp, Ont.) shot a 79 to take home fourth place and senior Shea Murphy (Wilmington, Del.) shot an 80 to tie for fifth place overall.
The Lightning once again threatened the record book as a team, carding 295 Monday to tie for the third-lowest score in team history.
GBC ended first with 295, ahead of fellow Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opponent Jefferson University. The latter carded 328.
Goldey-Beacom competes next in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship on October 7th and 8th in Haworth, NJ. Tee times begin at 8 AM both days.
