Ryan Quigg and Shea Murphy Own the Spotlight for Golf at the CACC Championship

Senior Ryan Quigg (Sykesville, MD) and junior Shea Murphy (Wilmington, DE) each carded impressive first rounds as Goldey-Beacom took part in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship at Deerfield Golf Club in Newark, DE.

Quigg on a picturesque day went out in an even-par 35 and ended his round with 76 to sit tied for 10th. He birdied the par-five opening hole as well as the par-four 13th hole.

Murphy went out in 38 and came back in 39 to close with 77, putting him tied for 14th. He notched six pars on the front nine and five on the back.

Sophomore Corbin Babyak (Wallenpaupack, PA) and junior Braden Wheeler (Carleton Place, ON) each shot 81 and are tied for 28th. Wheeler carded 40 on the back nine which included a birdie on the par-four 17th hole.

Goldey-Beacom as a team shot 315 and sits in seventh place. Dominican (NY) leads the championship with 298.

Final-round action of the 36-hole tournament takes place Monday, also at Deerfield Golf Club. Goldey-Beacom will be in a group that tees off at 8:30 am.
