Softball Headed to the CACC Tournament

Goldey-Beacom's softball team has put forth an outstanding 2017 season that is far from done with the squad getting ready to partake in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament.

The eight-team, double-elimination foray will be held from Thursday-Saturday on the campus of Georgian Court University in Lakewood, NJ. Goldey-Beacom is the fifth seed and will open play Thursday against fourth-seeded and defending champion Wilmington (DE) at noon.

Admission is charged for all games with one day's charge good for all games that day. Admission is $6 for adults and $3 for children, senior citizens and students with ID. Children under the age of 3 are admitted free. There are no complimentary tickets.

Please note Georgian Court University has a strict no pets and no smoking policy. Everyone's cooperation is greatly appreciated.

One of many key players this season has been senior Paulynn Mao (Anaheim, CA), who has started all 163 she has played. Playing primarily at second base and the owner of a 10-game hitting streak earlier this season, Mao is 41st in the league with a .302 batting average, 24th with 42 hits and 34th with 19 RBI.

Sophomore center fielder Shelby Murphy (Laurel, DE) has not missed a start in 94 games over her two seasons. An incredibly reliable player on both offense and defense, she is 52nd in the league with a .291 batting average, 35th with a .437 slugging percentage, 17th with 46 hits and 12th with 10 doubles. Her 18 stolen bases are tied for team's single-season record, her 46 hits are tied for the 18th-best single-season mark, her five triples are tied for sixth and her 32 runs are tied for ninth.

Sophomore Rachel Davis (Bethel, DE) once again is enjoying a solid campaign in batting .271 with 35 hits and nine extra-base hits. Freshman Kasey Goshorn (Salisbury, MD) has blossomed primarily as the designated player, batting .271 with 19 hits over 22 starts.

Alyssa Giampolo (East Windsor, NJ) in her sophomore campaign has notched 52 strikeouts over 119 1/3 innings with seven wins and a 3.05 ERA. Junior Kylie Doyle (Tower City, PA) has 37 strikeouts over 123 2/3 frames with six wins.
