Goldey-Beacom senior Chris Mandia (Catskill, NY) put forth a solid opening round at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship and is tied for sixth place at the midway point in Middletown, DE.

On a cold and rainy day that featured a weather delay lasting almost three hours, Mandia went out in 39 and came back in with the same number. This included a birdie on the long par-5 11th hole. His 78 has him eight shots off the lead held by Elliot Wakefield of Nyack.

Senior Garrett Brown (Severn, MD) is tied for 19th with 82, junior Andre Primeau (Pontypool, ON) sits tied for 21st with 83, freshman Shea Murphy (Wilmington, DE) is tied for 33rd at 86 and senior Tom Hannig (Claymont, DE) sits tied for 42nd with 92.

Goldey-Beacom is sixth as a unit with 329. Dominican (NY) leads the way with 312.

Final-round action begins Tuesday at 8:00 am, also at Back Creek Golf Club.
