Golf Opens Play at Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invitational

Against a competitive and numerous field, Goldey-Beacom began play during round one of the Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invitational in West Chester, PA.

With 64 players each among a men's and women's tournament crammed into foursomes and a late tee time scheduled Sunday, play did not finish until Monday among the 12 men's teams and as many women's squads.

When the first 18 holes final concluded, senior Chris Mandia (Catskill, NY) was tied for 16th with 77 and fellow senior Garrett Brown (Severn, MD) was tied for 26th at 79. Senior Tom Hannig (Claymont, DE) carded 86, junior Andre Primeau (Pontypool, ON) shot 88 and freshman Shea Murphy (Wilmington, DE) fired 90.

The Lightning are in 11th place at 330. Davis and Elkins leads the way at 294.

Final-round action is Monday at Penn Oaks Golf Club.
