Goldey-Beacom ushered in the 2017 spring season with an impressive showing, closing third at the GBC Spring Invitational in Ocean View, DE.

One player ready for the start of the spring was senior Garrett Brown (Severn, MD), who is looking to get back to the NCAA Regional for a third time. He was the opening-round leader with 72 and closed the championship tied for third at 154 for his second top-10 finish this academic year.

Brown was just two shots off the pace set by Wilmington's Freddy Braun, who won by finishing one shot better than teammate Braden McKay.

Also having a great tournament for the Lightning was junior Andre Primeau (Pontypool, ON), who carded a final-round 78 and finished tied for 15th at 158.

Tom Hannig (Claymont, DE) was 21st with 163 that included a final-round 78, fellow senior Chris Mandia (Catskill, NY) closed tied for 23rd at 166 and freshman Shea Murphy (Wilmington, DE) finished 27th at 168.

GBC shot 640 that included an opening-round 318. Wilmington carded a final-round 304 and won the title with 616.

Goldey-Beacom is in action Friday and Saturday at the Brown Golf Intercollegiate in Jackson Springs, NC.
