Goldey-Beacom's baseball team on Sunday, March 5 will host its first Division II baseball game in school history in a doubleheader against Queens (NY).

First pitch is at noon and the Lightning play their home games at Doyle Field, located at 1023 Valley Road in Hockessin, DE.  Please note the parking lot is shared between Doyle Field and the Hockessin Public Library.  Those attending games must park in either the second or third section (rows three through six) of the lot.  The first section (rows one and two) are reserved for the library.

Hot dogs and hamburgers will be served at the game, courtesy of Goldey-Beacom's Student Affairs Office, with the first 100 fans in attendance receiving a pullover bag and a mini bat.

The Lightning opened their season the weekend of February 18-19 with three games at Barton.  With any start, the firsts are always important.  Among them include freshman Tevin Thomas (Dover, DE) getting the first hit and first RBI in school history, sophomore Brandon Abdul (Old Bridge, NJ) recording the first double before scoring the first run, junior Jake Trejo (Wauseon, OH) throwing the Lightning's first pitch and junior Keegan Marsden (Stratford, ON) hitting the first home run.

Before Goldey-Beacom threw its first pitch, Trejo won his first award in being named a Division II Newcomer to Watch by Collegiate Baseball.

Goldey-Beacom welcomes back baseball as the College's 11th sport and it is the 12th school to compete in baseball in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.

While baseball will be new under the name Goldey-Beacom College, it will be a re-instatement for the institution.  Baseball was played at what was then called Goldey College as early as 1922 and continued into the 1950s.  This included an undefeated season in 1935 and the Atlantic Coast championship (no affiliation with the current Atlantic Coast Conference) in 1947.
