Goldey-Beacom men's soccer junior Suhail Bismilla (Johannesburg, South Africa) and women's soccer junior Sophie Woods (Manchester, England) each have been named the winner of their sport's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Top XVI Award.

This honor is presented "to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the CACC championships."

Bismilla has played almost every game in goal during his time with the squad and helps control the Lightning's play on the field with his incredible leadership skills.  This enabled him to be picked first team All-CACC a second straight year as well as the CACC Goalkeeper of the Year.

He stands tied for 23rd in the country this season with six shutouts, the second-best mark in school history, and 60th with 67 saves.  The two-time member of the CACC Academic Honor Roll also is first in school history with 11 career shutouts and fourth with 198 saves.

Woods continues to be a solid competitor at midfield with her toughness and determined effort.  While she has six goals and three assists during her two years, her stats truly do not do justice as her 56 minutes per game off the bench this season have been extremely valuable in helping solidify a strong unit.

Bismilla and Woods join sophomore golfer Shea Murphy (Wilmington, DE) so far as the Lightning's winners of this award for their sport this academic year, bringing the total of GBC student-athletes since the award's creation in 2013-14 to six.  Jabari Chambers from men's cross country won in the fall of 2013, Patrick McRae from men's golf took it home in the spring of 2015 and Nina Sengl from women's tennis was so honored in the fall of 2015.

Both teams Friday are in Lakewood, NJ for the CACC Tournament semifinals.  The women's squad (12-4-2, 8-3-1 CACC) is the fourth seed and will face top-seeded Georgian Court at 11:00 am.  The men's team (14-4-1, 9-2-1) is the second seed and will battle sixth-seeded Post at 1:30 pm.
