Brown and Primeau Lead the Way for Golf at the CACC Championship

Junior Garrett Brown (Severn, MD) is tied for 18th place and sophomore Andre Primeau (Pontypool, Ontario) sits tied for 20th to pace Goldey-Beacom on day one of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship in Middletown, DE.

The course conditions at Back Creek Golf Club were ideal and so was the weather, except for a wind that had many players throwing grass and rethinking club selection. Still, it was a competitive round in which 14 of 50 players broke 80 and 35 are within 10 shots of the lead.

Brown went out in 39 and came in with 41 to shoot a nine-over-par 80. Primeau came in with 40 that included a birdie on the seemingly endless par-five 16th hole, finishing with 81.

Chris Mandia (Catskill, NY) is tied for 26th with 82, fellow junior Tom Hannig (Claymont, DE) sits tied for 31st with 83 and sophomore Barry Frankel (Sykesville, MD) is tied for 46th with 88. Andrew Geesey of Felician holds the lead with a two-over-par 73.

GBC is eighth with 326 and Wilmington (DE) holds the lead with 302.

Final-round action at the 36-hole championship commences Wednesday at 8:00 am.
