Alyssa Giampolo Named CACC Softball Pitcher of the Week

A stellar first weekend to her collegiate career has landed freshman Alyssa Giampolo (East Windsor, NJ) the honor of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Week.

Giampolo won her first collegiate start, allowing just one earned run and eight hits over seven innings with two strikeouts and only one walk in Goldey-Beacom's 5-4 triumph Saturday over Kutztown. She also got the start Sunday in the Lightning's come-from-behind victory over Ursuline.

The Business major last year paced Notre Dame High School to the Mercer County Tournament title. She won four Colonial Valley Conference titles with the Irish and also competed on the school's field hockey team.

The Lightning (2-2) over the weekend split four contests at the season-opening Pioneer Classic in Greeneville, TN.

Goldey-Beacom returns to action March 12 at Felician in both teams' CACC opener.
