Men’s Golf Aces its Way to Standout First Day in West Virginia

A hole in one and two players in the top 25 highlighted day one as Goldey-Beacom played 36 holes of the Glade Springs Intercollegiate in Daniels, WV.

The day marked the GBC debut of junior Chris Mandia (Catskill, NY) and he provided the dramatics, getting a hole in one on the par-3 seventh hole en route to a first-round 76. He shot 79 in the afternoon and is tied for 23rd with 155.

Sophomore Barry Frankel (Sykesville, MD) leads the Lightning with 152, including a second-round 75, which has him tied for 15th. Junior Garrett Brown (Severn, MD), a two-time NCAA Regional qualifier, is tied for 25th with 156 that included an afternoon 74.

Sophomore Andre Primeau (Pontypool, ON) is tied for 59th with 164 and freshman Ryan Quigg (Sykesville, MD) is tied for 67th with 168. The Lightning are seventh out of 18 schools with 626.

Final-round action of the 54-hole event is Tuesday morning.
