Garrett Brown and Patrick McRae Finish Play at the NCAA Men’s Golf Regionals

Goldey-Beacom sophomore Garrett Brown (Severn, MD) and senior Patrick McRae (Markham, ON) each finished their outstanding seasons by playing in the final round of the NCAA East/Atlantic Men's Golf Regional in Nashport, OH.

Brown started on the back nine, getting seven pars to open at 38. He posted birdies on the par-4 first hole and the par-5 seventh to give him four on the week, but he totaled 44 over the front nine to close the day at 82 and end the championship with 246.

McRae opened on the back nine by shooting 39, including his second birdie on the par-5 16th hole this week. Despite getting a birdie on the par-5 fourth hole, his fifth birdie of the championship, he played the front nine in 46 to end the day at 85 and close the tournament with 251.

Brown ended the championship tied for 78th and McRae was tied for 91st.

Brown, who made his second NCAA appearance, this year was picked All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. He had four top-10 finishes that included ending tied for fifth at the GBC Fall Invitational and tied for ninth at the Dowling Shootout in September.

Last year, Brown closed tied for 30th at the NCAA Regional with 223.

McRae, who made his third trip to the NCAA Regionals, this season had four top-10 finishes and seven top-20 finishes. He won the Philadelphia U. Invitational on March 31, was second at the GBC Fall Invitational on October 6 and closed tied for fifth at the CACC Championship to make the all-tournament team.

At the 2012 NCAA Regionals, McRae shot 229 to finish tied for eighth and missed qualifying for the national tournament by two shots. In 2013, he ended tied for 46th with 233.
