Men’s Golf Finishes Ninth at the Cottrell Invitational

Goldey-Beacom carded a final-round 310 that was 11 shots better than Sunday, but finished in ninth place at the Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invitational in West Chester, PA.

The Lightning's opening-round 321 had them in ninth place and they figured to make a move after today's stellar effort, but ended in the same spot with 631 that had them 26 shots in back of champion West Chester.

Sophomore Garrett Brown (Severn, MD) was the team's biggest mover with 74 that had him close 10th overall with 152. Freshman Andre Primeau (Pontypool, ON) carded 78 to end tied for 14th with 154 and senior Patrick McRae (Markham, ON) shot another 78 to post 156, good for a 19th-place tie.

Senior Tyler McElwee (Wilmington, DE) shot 80 and was tied for 59th with 169. Freshman Barry Frankel (Sykesville, MD) carded 84 and was tied for 65th with 174.

This was the squad's final tune-up before next week's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship. The 36-hole tournament begins Tuesday, April 21 at 8:00 am in Blue Bell, PA.
