CALDWELL, N.J. - Using a 15-hit attack that included four home runs, No. 13 Caldwell College (11-1, 1-0) extended its winning streak to 11 consecutive games by posting a 16-1 victory over Goldey-Beacom College (1-15, 0-9) in the first game of a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader at Caldwell Field on Saturday afternoon.

While the Cougars earned the five-inning win in the first game, the teams were unable to complete the doubleheader as rain forced the second game to be postponed. It will be played on Sunday, Apr. 6 at 11 a.m. at Caldwell Field.

Led by two hits and two runs by junior Alyssa Calderon (Etiwanda H.S./Fontana, Calif.), the Cougars sprinted out to an 11-0 lead in the first inning by sending 16 batters to the plate. While Calderon scored twice and collected two hits in the opening stanza, freshman Gracie Sullivan (York H.S./Elmhurst, Ill.) hit a grand slam for the first home run of her college career.

In the second inning, Caldwell added three more runs, including a pair of home runs from sophomore Brielle Reighn (Triton Regional H.S./Runnemeade, N.J.) and freshman Lauren Frye (Jupiter H.S./Jupiter, Fla.), to increase their lead to 14-0 before Sullivan belted her second home run of the game, a two-run shot in the third inning.

The Lightning ended the Cougars' shutout bid in the top of the fourth inning when freshman Paulynn Mao (Rancho Alamitos H.S./Anaheim, Calif.) drove in a run with a single to center field.

Sullivan led the Cougars to the win by going three-for-three with six runs batted in while scoring three runs. Meanwhile, Reighn tallied two hits with three runs batted in.

Mao was one of three Goldey-Beacom players to record a hit in the game while senior Roni Peters (Leonardtown H.S./Leonardtown, Md.) scored the team's run in the fourth inning.

The Lightning will return to action on Tuesday, Apr. 1 when they travel to Chestnut Hill College for a 3 p.m. CACC doubleheader against the Griffins.
