NEWTOWN, Pa. - Senior infielder Danielle McDevitt (Williamstown H.S./Williamstown, N.J.) posted five hits and scored four runs to lead Holy Family University (13-5, 5-1) to a pair of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victories over Goldey-Beacom College (1-14, 0-8) at Helen Randle Park on Thursday afternoon.

Led by McDevitt, the Tigers earned their first CACC doubleheader sweep of the season while winning for the fourth time in the last five games. After posting an 11-7 victory in the first game, the Tigers earned the sweep by winning the second game by a 12-2 margin in six innings.

In the first game, the Tigers jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the first three innings. After sophomore Alexis Daubert (Sterling H.S./Stratford, N.J.) scored on a wild pitch, the Tigers added a pair of runs on a fielder's choice by senior first baseman Erin Corrado (St. Mark's H.S./Fair Hill, Md.) that resulted in a Goldey-Beacom error.

Holy Family added a run in the bottom of the third inning when sophomore third baseman Kristine Casey (Caravel Academy/Newark, Del.) hit an RBI single to left field.

But, the Lightning answered by scoring four runs in the top of the fourth inning to tie the game. Freshman Paulynn Mao (Rancho Alamitos H.S./Anaheim, Calif.) drove in the first run with a double to left center field before senior Ashley Zaccaria (Gloucester City H.S./Gloucester City, N.J.) trimmed the margin to 4-2 with a single to left field.

Senior outfielder Michelle Foster (Overbrook H.S./West Berlin, N.J.) tied the game at 4-4 when she hit an infield single to score Mao and Zaccaria with two outs in the inning.

The Tigers answered the Lightning's four-run inning by scoring four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to regain an 8-4 lead. After Daubert drove in a run with a single to right center field, the Tigers took advantage of a Goldey-Beacom error to extend the advantage to 6-4. A two-run single to center field by Corrado added a pair of runs for a four-run edge.

Holy Family added an insurance marker in the bottom of the fifth inning before the Lightning tallied three runs in the top of the sixth inning, closing the deficit to 9-7. Foster hit an RBI single to left field to trim the margin to 9-5 before freshman outfielder Charlee King (Hodgson Vo-Tech H.S./New Castle, Del.) plated a pair of runs with a single.

But, the Tigers scored twice in the bottom of the sixth inning to take an 11-7 lead they did not relinquish.

The Lightning took a quick 2-0 lead in the opening inning of the second game. After King gave Goldey-Beacom a 1-0 lead with a single to center field, sophomore catcher Alivia Schoff (Rising Sun H.S./Colora, Md.) hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score the Lightning's second run.

However, the Tigers quickly answered by scoring three times in the bottom half of the inning. Freshman Brianna Scotto (West Babylon H.S./West Babylon, N.Y.) tied the game at 2-2 with a two-run double to left center field before Corrado hit an RBI single to center field.

After senior outfielder AnnMarie Dalton (Northampton H.S./Northampton, Pa.) upped the Tigers' advantage to 4-2 with an RBI single in the bottom of the third inning, Holy Family added two more runs in the fifth inning for a 6-2 lead.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Tigers put the game out of reach as freshman Madison McCleery (Haddon Heights H.S./Barrington, N.J.) and senior Samantha Borrelli (Overbrook H.S./West Berlin, N.J.) each hit home runs. McCleery drove in a pair of runs with the first home run of her career while Borrelli hit a grand slam to left field.

While McDevitt led the Tigers to the doubleheader sweep, Casey also collected five hits while scoring three runs with two runs batted in. Borrelli tallied three hits in the doubleheader while driving in five runs.

King led the Lightning with four hits while driving in three runs while Foster had three runs batted in with two hits and two runs scored.

The Lightning, who scored a season-high seven runs in the first game, will continue their eight-game road trip on Saturday, Mar. 29 when they visit No. 13 Caldwell in a CACC doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
