PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - Looking to open its season on a winning note, the Goldey-Beacom College softball team dropped a pair of contests at the Palm Beach Atlantic University Sailfish Showdown at the Lake Catherine Complex on Friday afternoon.

After dropping their season opener by a 9-1 margin against the University of Charleston, the Lightning suffered a tough 23-1 setback against Saint Leo in their second game of the tournament.

Seniors Ashley Zaccaria (Gloucester City H.S./Gloucester City, N.J.) and Michelle Foster (Overbrook H.S./West Berlin, N.J.) along with freshman Paulynn Mao (Rancho Alamitos H.S./Anaheim, Calif.) each tallied a hit for the Lightning in the doubleheader.

Meanwhile, Zaccaria and senior Roni Peters (Leonardtown H.S./Leonardtown, Md.) each scored a run.

The Lightning will continue play at the PBA Sailfish Showdown on Saturday, Feb. 22 when they face Nova Southeastern University at 1 p.m.
