NEWARK, Del. - Senior forward
Briana Richmond-Peters (Brimm Medical Arts H.S./Camden, N.J.) scored 12 points and added a game-high 15 rebounds as Goldey-Beacom College (11-13, 8-9) snapped a two-game losing streak by earning a 69-62 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over Wilmington University (7-18, 4-14) at the Wilmington University Athletics Complex on Tuesday evening.
Richmond-Peters, who became the ninth player in school history to record at least 500 career rebounds, tallied her third "double double" of the season as the Lightning earned their 10th consecutive victory over the Wildcats. Meanwhile, the Wildcats suffered their fourth loss in the last five games.
While Richmond-Peters led the Lightning to the victory, junior guard
Lillian Chukwueze (Cherry Hill East H.S./Cherry Hill, N.J.) scored a game-high 20 points after making 7 of 17 shots from the floor along with a 5-for-10 effort from the free throw line. She also added six rebounds with two steals.
Meanwhile, junior forward
Chelsea Grover (Seneca H.S./Southampton, N.J.) added 12 points, including an 8-for-11 performance from the free throw line, while adding eight rebounds and three assists.
Sophomore guard
Tenicia Spence (Western H.S./Baltimore, Md.) led the Wildcats in a losing effort by scoring 11 points with seven rebounds while junior guard
Taylor Carter (Western H.S./Edgewood, Md.) added an 11-point performance after making 4 of 10 field goal attempts, including three of five three-point shots.
The Lightning, who overcame a 29-26 halftime deficit en route to the victory, set a season high by grabbing 55 rebounds.
Currently in fourth place in the CACC South Division standings, the Lightning will begin a two-game homestand on Saturday, Feb. 22 by hosting Dominican at the Joseph West Jones College Center at 1 p.m.
