RIVERHEAD, N.Y. – Freshman
Garrett Brown (Glen Burnie H.S./Severn, Md.) earned a share of fifth place after shooting a two-round total of 155 as Goldey-Beacom College finished in a tie for 10th place at the Dowling September Shootout at the Long Island National Golf Course on Saturday afternoon.
The Lightning, who shot a 345 as a team in the second round, finished the two-round event tied with Nyack College and Post University. Meanwhile, Adelphi claimed the team title after overcoming a five-stroke deficit to edge Le Moyne.
Brown, who fired a 75 in the opening round on Friday, shot a nine-over-par score of 80 in the second round to finish in a tie for fifth place with
Adam Larkin of Farmingdale State.
Meanwhile, senior
Matthew Japchen (Central Bucks West H.S./Doylestown, Pa.) carded an 85 in the second round to finish with a two-round score of 165 while junior
Matthew Scheeper (Delsea H.S./Franklinville, N.J.) followed with a two-round total of 170, including an 88 in the second round.
Freshman
Tom Hannig (Concord H.S./Claymont, Del.) posted a two-round score of 179 while senior
Justin Lesko (St. Mark's H.S./Newark, Del.) posted a 92 in the second round to finish with a total score of 182.
The Lightning will return to action on Sept. 29 and 30 when they host the Goldey-Beacom College Fall Invite at Odessa National Golf Course.
