RIVERHEAD, N.Y. – Freshman
Brett Moore (West Kelowna, B.C., Canada) earned his first career top 10 effort by finishing in a tie for fifth place to lead Goldey-Beacom College to a fifth place showing at the Peter King Memorial Tournament at the Long Island National Golf Course on Saturday afternoon.
The Lightning finished one stroke behind Daemen College for fourth place after carding a team total of 314 in the second round. Meanwhile, Bentley University earned the team title after edging UMass-Lowell in a tiebreaker.
Moore, who fired a season-low 73 in the opening round on Friday, finished the tournament with a 75 in the second round.
Meanwhile, junior
Patrick McRae (Markham, Ontario, Canada) and sophomore
Matthew Scheeper (Delsea H.S./Franklinville, N.J.) followed by posting a two-round total of 157. McRae posted a 77 in the second round while Scheeper finished with a second-round score of 80.
Senior
Devon Ripley (Caesar Rodney H.S./Camden, Del.) turned in a two-round score of 158 while senior
Jeff Whiteside (Newark H.S./Bear, Del.) ended the tournament with a score of 164 after carding an 87 in the second round.
The Lightning will compete at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship on Tuesday and Wednesday.
