WILMINGTON, Del.
- With just two weeks remaining in the 2013 regular season, the Goldey-Beacom College softball team has just a few opportunities to get wins if it wants to qualify for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference championship. A pair of those opportunities await the Lightning on Tuesday when they travel to Philadelphia University for a doubleheader against the Rams.

The Lightning, who are starting a stretch of eight games in five days, will also play a pair of non-conference games at Bloomsburg University on Wednesday afternoon.

Now 9-23 overall and 5-13 in the CACC, the Lightning are currently tied for 12th place in the conference standings. However, they sit just two games out of eighth place, which is the final spot for the CACC tournament.

The Lightning will be looking to snap a 13-game losing streak when they begin play this week after dropping a pair of CACC contests at Concordia on Sunday afternoon. After losing by a 10-9 margin in the first game, the Lightning suffered an 8-6 setback in the nightcap.

Junior outfielder Michelle Foster (Overbrook H.S./West Berlin, N.J.) had an outstanding performance at Concordia on Sunday afternoon, recording seven hits in eight at-bats. After a 4-for-4 effort in the first game, she added three hits in the second game along with a pair of runs batted in. The Lightning's leading hitter with a .347 average, she also leads the team with 33 hits and ranks second with 13 runs batted in.

Meanwhile, junior Roni Peters (Leonardtown H.S./Leonardtown, Md.) is contributing a .283 average with nine runs batted in. She also ranks second on the team with 24 base hits.

Currently 15-23 overall and 7-11 in the CACC, Philadelphia University has won five of its last nine games after sweeping a doubleheader over Felician on Sunday afternoon. The Rams have tallied 6 of their 15 wins at home this year and are led by freshman infielder Emilia Cantrell (Central Bucks East H.S./Pipersville, Pa.), who has a .381 average with two home runs and 15 runs batted in.

Bloomsburg will enter Wednesday's doubleheader with a 20-10 record, but the Huskies have lost three of their last four games after splitting a pair of PSAC contests against Mansfield University on Sunday afternoon. Junior Chrissy Belko (Old Forge H.S./Old Forge, Pa.) has hit a team-high 11 home runs with 38 runs batted in while ranking fourth on the team with a .351 average.

After Wednesday, the Lightning will return home to the Jackson Athletic Complex for a six-game homestand that starts on Friday with a CACC doubleheader against Chestnut Hill at 2 p.m.
