INDIANA, Pa. – Freshman
Brett Moore (West Kelowna, B.C., Canada) and senior
Jeff Whiteside (Newark H.S./Bear, Del.) each finished in a tie for 11th place as Goldey-Beacom College earned a share of sixth place at the 50th Annual IUP-Cecil Spadafora Golf Invitational hosted by Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Monday afternoon.
California University of Pennsylvania earned the team championship after posting a two-round team score of 589 while senior
Sean Sweithelm (Indiana H.S./Indiana, Pa.) of IUP claimed the individual medalist honor after carding an even-par total of 142.
Moore, who fired an opening round score of 74 on Sunday, finished the tournament with a four-over par round of 75. Meanwhile, Whiteside shot a 78 (+7) in the second round after posting an even-par round on Sunday afternoon.
Junior
Patrick McRae (Markham, Ontario, Canada) finished in a tie for 26th place after shooting a 79 on Monday. He also posted a 75 in Sunday's opening round. Junior
Matthew Japchen (Central Bucks West H.S./New Britain, Pa.) finished the tournament in a tie for 57th place after a two-round score of 162.
Senior
Devon Ripley (Caesar Rodney H.S./Camden, Del.) fired a two-round score of 170 to finish the tournament in 70th place.
The Lightning will now await the announcement of the selections for the 2013 NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Regional Championship, which will take place on Apr. 26. Goldey-Beacom has qualified for the NCAA Regional Championship in seven of the last eight years.
