BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Senior first baseman Theresa Magnani (Plainedge H.S./Bethpage, N.Y.) had four hits and drove in six runs as Concordia College (7-20, 6-12) erupted for 18 runs en route to a sweep of a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader against Goldey-Beacom College (9-23, 5-13) at the Clippers Softball Field on Sunday afternoon.

The Clippers, who have now won three of their last five games, rallied from a three-run deficit in the first game to take a 10-9 victory over the Lightning before posting an 8-6 triumph in the nightcap. The losses extended Goldey-Beacom's losing streak to 13 consecutive games.

In the first game, the Lightning took an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. After junior outfielder Michelle Foster (Overbrook H.S./West Berlin, N.J.) gave Goldey-Beacom a 1-0 lead with an RBI double to left center field, freshman catcher Alivia Schoff (Rising Sun H.S./Colora, Md.) added a two-run double to left center field to increase the advantage.

But, the Clippers answered by scoring six unanswered runs to claim a 6-3 edge. After a Magnani sacrifice fly trimmed the deficit to 3-1 in the bottom of the first inning, the Clippers added five runs in the bottom of the second inning to take their first lead of the game. Senior outfielder Kristina Patrocinio (J.P. Stevens H.S./Edison, N.J.) and freshman Alexa Lavalle (Warren Hills H.S./Oxford, N.J.) led off the inning with back-to-back home runs off junior Roni Peters (Leonardtown H.S./Leonardtown, Md.) before senior catcher Laura Brezovsky (Our Lady of Victory H.S./Yonkers, N.Y.) added a two-run double to left field for a 5-3 lead.

A fielding error by the Lightning upped the Clippers' lead to 6-3 as Brezovsky scored on the miscue.

However, the Lightning answered with six consecutive runs in the top of the third inning to regain the advantage at 9-6. After an RBI double by junior third baseman Ashley Zaccaria (Gloucester City H.S./Gloucester City, N.J.) cut the margin to 6-4, sophomore Asia Ellis (Lenape H.S./Marlton, N.J.) singled down the left field line to score two more runs and tie the game at 6-6.

Senior Ashley Antosh (Twin Valley H.S./Honey Brook, Pa.) gave the Lightning a 7-6 lead with an RBI single down the left field line before Foster drove in two more runs with a single to right center field, upping the advantage to 9-6.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Concordia narrowed its deficit to 9-8 with a pair of runs. Freshman shortstop Victoria Vickerman (Mercy H.S./Clinton, Conn.) drove in a run on a ground out before a sacrifice fly by Magnani with one out cut the Lightning advantage to one run.

After freshman outfielder Brittany Lampert (Shelton H.S./Shelton, Conn.) tied the game at 9-9 with a double to center field in the bottom of the seventh inning, she scored the game-winning run two batters later on a wild pitch by Peters to complete the Clippers' comeback.

The Lightning took an early 3-0 lead in the second game on a three-run double to right center field by Ellis in the top of the first inning.

But, the Clippers took advantage of a Goldey-Beacom error in the bottom of the first inning to narrow the margin to 3-2 before taking a 5-3 lead with three runs in the bottom of the second inning. They tied the game on a fielding error by Zaccaria before Magnani drove in two runs with a single to right field.

A two-run double by Foster in the top of the fourth inning tied the game at 5-5, but the Clippers added two runs in the bottom of the inning to retake the advantage at 7-5.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Magnani drove in another run with a double to left center field to increase the Clippers' cushion to 8-5.

The Lightning scored a run in the top of the seventh inning on a fielder's choice by junior Courtney Dolson (Gloucester H.S./Gloucester, N.J.), but were unable to get any closer as Concordia recorded the final out to complete the sweep.

While Magnani led the Clippers with her 4-for-6 performance at the plate, Lampert contributed six hits and drove in six runs for Concordia.

Foster, who is the Lightning's leading hitter, tallied seven hits in the doubleheader and drove in five runs while Ellis contributed three hits with four runs batted in.

The Lightning will continue their six-game road trip on Tuesday afternoon when they face Philadelphia University in a CACC doubleheader beginning at 2:30 p.m.
