Directions to Asbury Field
WILMINGTON, Del. - After playing 18 of its first 20 games at home, the Goldey-Beacom College softball team will make its shortest road trip of the season on Tuesday afternoon by visiting Wilmington University for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader against the Wildcats.
The first game at Asbury Field is slated to begin at 3 p.m. with the second game to start approximately 20 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.
Now 9-11 overall and 5-3 in the CACC, the Lightning have split their last eight games after earning a win over Post University in a CACC doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at the Jackson Athletic Complex. Goldey-Beacom posted a 5-0 shutout win in the first game before the Eagles used four early runs to edge the Lightning by a 4-3 margin in the nightcap.
Junior utility player 
Roni Peters (Leonardtown H.S./Leonardtown, Md.), who was honored as the CACC Pitcher of the Week on Monday, led the Lightning to the victory over the Eagles on Saturday by recording her second consecutive shutout. In upping her record to 3-1 on the season, she recorded three strikeouts and did not walk a batter while scattering three hits. Meanwhile, sophomore 
Asia Ellis (Lenape H.S./Marlton, N.J.) contributed three hits in the doubleheader split, including a double and a triple.
Junior outfielder 
Michelle Foster (Overbrook H.S./West Berlin, N.J.) is the Lightning's leading hitter after posting a team-high .350 batting average in the first 20 games. She also leads the team with 21 hits and is tied for third on the team with eight runs batted in. Meanwhile, Peters has a .317 batting average with 20 hits and eight runs batted in along with a 1.73 earned run average.
Currently 14-14 overall and 1-3 in the CACC, the Wildcats have won three of their last four games after erupting for 33 runs in a doubleheader sweep over Washington Adventist on Friday afternoon. After taking the first game by a 17-0 margin, Wilmington posted a 16-0 triumph in the nightcap that included a combined no-hitter.
Senior utility player 
Jillian Stafford (Gloucester City H.S./Gloucester City, N.J.) is the Wildcats' leading hitter with a .379 batting average and a team-high 29 runs batted in. Meanwhile, freshman outfielder 
Brook Ash (Millsboro, Del./Indian River H.S.) has contributed a .351 batting average while leading the team with 34 base hits and 10 extra-base hits.
Senior 
Katie Warrington (Red Lion Christian Academy/Townsend, Del.) has been the Wildcats' pitching ace during the first month of the season, posting an 8-2 record along with a 1.35 earned run average. She has already recorded 114 strikeouts in 11 appearances with just 12 walks. Opponents are hitting just .199 against Warrington, who earned first team All-CACC notice for the second straight season last year.
The Wildcats earned a doubleheader sweep over the Lightning in last year's meeting at the Jackson Athletic Complex. Wilmington earned an 8-0 victory in the first game before holding off the Lightning for a 6-2 decision in the nightcap. Senior outfielder 
Shelby Thompson (St. Elizabeth's H.S./Newark, Del.) had four hits and scored three runs to lead the Wildcats while Warrington earned a shutout in the first game by limiting Goldey-Beacom to just four hits.
The Lightning will return home after Tuesday's doubleheader to host Holy Family University in a CACC doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
