Ashley Antosh and the Lightning will continue their homestand on Tuesday afternoon against East Stroudsburg.

Live Stats for Tuesday's Softball Doubleheader

WILMINGTON, Del.
- Looking to rebound from a pair of tough losses on Sunday, the Lightning softball team will continue its season-opening 14-game homestand by hosting East Stroudsburg in a pair of non-conference games at the Jackson Athletic Complex. The doubleheader is slated to begin at 1:30 p.m.

Now 0-2 on the season, the Lightning were unable to solve a pair of strong pitching performances from Lock Haven on Sunday as the Bald Eagles took the first game by a 7-0 margin before posting a 9-0 victory in the nightcap. Junior infielder/pitcher Roni Peters (Leonardtown H.S./Leonardtown, Md.) accounted for two of the Lightning's five hits in the doubleheader while sophomore outfielder Samantha Alonzo (Roy C. Ketcham H.S./Wappinger Falls, N.Y.) belted a triple in the second game.

Senior Ashley Antosh (Twin Valley H.S./Honey Brook, Pa.) and junior Courtney Dolson (Gloucester H.S./Gloucester, N.J.) each pitched in the season-opening doubleheader. Antosh allowed just three earned runs in the first game while striking out a pair of Lock Haven hitters. In addition, she also pitched the final 1.2 innings in the nightcap and allowed three runs on three hits.

Meanwhile, Dolson pitched 5.1 innings in her Goldey-Beacom debut in the second game, allowing six runs on six hits while posting one strikeout.

Returning to the diamond for the first time since Feb. 25, the Warriors will also be trying to earn their first win of the 2013 season when they face Goldey-Beacom on Tuesday afternoon. East Stroudsburg has been idle since losing by a 10-3 margin against Lenoir-Rhyne at the Catawba Invitational.

During the Warriors' first four games, they have been outscored by a 35-10 margin. However, 15 of those runs allowed by the Warriors have been unearned as the result of nine errors.

Freshman Sierra Wagner (Downingtown West H.S./Coatesville, Pa.) has been the Warriors' offensive leader in the first four games, posting a .500 batting average with a team-high three runs.

Meanwhile, freshman Amanda Carlin (East Meadow H.S./East Meadow, N.Y.) and junior Laura Suits (New Paltz H.S./New Paltz, N.Y.) have split the pitching duties thus far. Suits has a team-high eight strikeouts in three appearances while Carlin has a 5.23 earned run average.

The Lightning claimed a pair of victories over the Warriors last year at the Jackson Athletic Complex. After winning the first game by a 3-0 margin, Goldey-Beacom took a 7-4 victory in the nightcap.
