Golf Opens Spring Season at St. James Plantation Invite

Moore Leads Lightning to 11th Place Finish

SOUTHPORT, N.C.
- Led by freshman Brett Moore (West Kelowna, B.C., Canada), the Goldey-Beacom College men's golf team opened its Spring schedule with an 11th place finish at the St. James Plantation Invitational hosted by Indiana University of Pennsylvania at The Founders Club on Saturday afternoon.

The Lightning, who are playing for the first time since Oct. 9, carded an opening round score of 329 before finishing the second round with a 328 team score. Indiana University of Pennsylvania won the team title after a two-round score of 583, including a 286 in the second round.

Moore, who played in just two tournaments during the Fall season, finished in a tie for 16th place after he shot a 79 in the opening round before carding a three-over-par score of 75 in the second round.

Junior Justin Lesko (St. Mark's H.S./Newark, Del.) followed Moore in a tie for 52nd place after posting a pair of 83 scores in two rounds. Meanwhile, sophomore Matthew Scheeper (Delsea H.S./Franklinville, N.J.) finished in a tie for 56th place after firing a score of 167.

Seniors Jeff Whiteside (Newark H.S./Bear, Del.) and Devon Ripley (Caesar Rodney H.S./Camden, Del.) finished in 69th and 71st places, respectively. Whiteside shot a two-round total of 172 while Ripley posted a two-round score of 177.
