LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. - Led by freshman
Garrett Brown (Glen Burnie H.S./Severn, Md.), the Goldey-Beacom College men's golf team finished in third place at the Philadelphia University Golf Classic at The ACE Club on Tuesday afternoon.
The Lightning, who had won the event in each of the last two years, finished with a 320 team score while Nyack College took first place after carding a 302 team score. Neumann University followed in second place with a team score of 317.
Brown, who posted his third top-five finish of the season, earned a share of second place after firing a 75 on Tuesday. He opened the round by shooting a 36 on the front nine before ending with a 39 over the final nine holes.
Meanwhile, junior
Matthew Scheeper (Delsea H.S./Franklinville, N.J.) finished in a tie for ninth place with a round of 79 while senior
Matthew Japchen (Central Bucks West H.S./Doylestown, Pa.) shot an 81 to finish in a tie for 11th place.
Senior
Justin Lesko (St. Mark's H.S./Newark, Del.) and freshman
Tom Hannig (Concord H.S./Claymont, Del.) each carded an 85 to share 26th place.
The Lightning will compete at the Daemen College Tournament on Monday, Oct. 14 and Tuesday, Oct. 15 at the Turning Stone Resort.Â
