PORT JEFFERSON, N.Y. - Led by freshman
Garrett Brown (Glen Burnie H.S./Severn, Md.) and senior
Matthew Japchen (Central Bucks West H.S./Doylestown, Pa.), the Goldey-Beacom College men's golf team finished its Fall season schedule by earning a seventh place effort at the Port Jefferson Country Club Intercollegiate at the Port Jefferson Country Club.
The Lightning, who were playing in their sixth tournament of the season, finished with a two-round score of 651. Meanwhile, tournament co-host St. Thomas Aquinas earned the team title after carding a two-round total of 584, including an impressive 285 (-3) in the second round.
Brown and Japchen each finished the tournament in a tie for 17th place with a 10-over-par total of 154. Brown carded a 79 in the first round before completing the tournament with a 75 in the second round. Meanwhile, Japchen fired a 78 in the opening round before finishing with a 76 in the second round.
Junior
Matthew Scheeper (Delsea H.S./Franklinville, N.J.) earned a share of 33rd place after finishing the two-round event with a 162 while junior
Tyler McElwee (St. Mark's H.S./Wilmington, Del.) posted a two-round score of 184 for 40th place.
Freshman
Tom Hannig (Concord H.S./Claymont, Del.) completed the Lightning contingent with a two-round score of 187.
