RIVERHEAD, N.Y. - Junior
Patrick McRae (Markham, Ontario, Canada) fired a 76 in the second round to finish in fifth place as the Lightning men's golf team earned a ninth place showing at the Dowling September Shootout at the Long Island National Golf Club on Saturday afternoon.
McRae, who shot a 72 in the opening round, posted the Lightning's best round for the second straight day while senior
Jeff Whiteside (Newark H.S./Bear, Del.) followed with a 79 score after carding a 76 in the first round.
Freshman
Brett Moore (West Kelowna, B.C., Canada), who posted an 86 on Friday, improved his score by three strokes on Saturday to finish the tournament with a score of 169.
Senior
Devon Ripley (Caesar Rodney H.S./Camden, Del.) shot an 85 on Saturday to finish with a two-round total of 169 while sophomore
Matt Scheeper (Delsea H.S./Franklinville, N.J.) posted an 86 in the second round to finish with a two-round total of 164.
The Lightning will return to action on Monday by competing in the Rehoboth Beach Invitational.
