HERSHEY, Pa.
– Led by sophomore Patrick McRae (Markham, Ontario, Canada), the Goldey-Beacom College men's golf team finished in 12th place in the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Regional Championship after competing in the third round at the East Course of the Hershey Country Club on Wednesday afternoon.

Wilmington University, which won its second Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference championship in April, earned its first-ever regional team title after carding a three-round total of 910 while Indiana University of Pennsylvania was second with a team score of 916.

After firing a 79 in the second round on Tuesday morning, McRae answered by posting a third round score of 75 on Wednesday to finish with a three-round total of 229. He was just two strokes shy of qualifying for the NCAA Championship as an individual.

Meanwhile, sophomore Bryan Neuhaus (Lago Vista H.S./Jonestown, Texas) and junior Devon Ripley (Caesar Rodney H.S./Camden, Del.) finished in a tie for 40th place after carding final round scores of 80 and 76, respectively.

Junior Jeff Whiteside (Newark H.S./Bear, Del.) posted a final round score of 79 to finish the tournament in a tie for 76th place while sophomore Matthew Japchen (Central Bucks West H.S./New Britain, Pa.) was 101st after carding an 87 in the final round.

The Lightning, which earned its seventh NCAA regional appearance in the last eight years, will return all seven players from this year's team. Goldey-Beacom College was one of three CACC teams to compete in the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional. While Wilmington University earned the team title, Post University will also advance to the NCAA Championship after a fourth place finish.

Opened in 1969, the par-71 East Course at Hershey Country Club is a golf enthusiast's dream, featuring elevated greens, three sparkling lakes, and more than 100 bunkers. Designer George Fazio captured the natural beauty of central Pennsylvania's countryside with views that golfers can appreciate on every hole. The course boasts numerous natural hazards, rolling fairways, and daunting greens, stretching 7,061 yards with a rating of 74.5 and a slope of 136. The East Course has hosted several PGA tournaments, including the Nationwide Tour's Reese's Cup Classic, an event on professional golf's development tour.
