Playing at home for the first time in two weeks, the Lightning shut out the Warriors by a 5-0 margin before posting an 8-2 victory in the nightcap.

The Lightning took a 3-0 lead in the first game by scoring three runs in the second inning. After sophomore Roni Peters (Leonardtown H.S./Leonardtown, Md.) gave Goldey-Beacom a 2-0 advantage with a double to left center, senior Jordan Waterloo (Thomas Stone H.S./Waldorf, Md.) upped the lead to 3-0 when she singled through the left side to score Peters.

In the fourth inning, senior Shannon O'Hara (LaPlata H.S./LaPlata, Md.) extended the Lightning edge to 4-0 when she hit a single up the middle to score senior Shannon Graves (Glassboro H.S./Glassboro, N.J.).

Cavanaugh added an RBI triple in the fifth inning for a 5-0 advantage.

Led by O'Hara, the Lightning limited Nyack to just two hits in the first game. Now 5-1 on the season, O'Hara posted her first solo shutout of the season while striking out four Nyack hitters.

In the nightcap, the teams traded runs in the third inning before Goldey-Beacom broke the game open by scoring five runs on seven hits in the fourth inning. After Waterloo gave the Lightning a 2-1 advantage with an RBI single to center field, freshman shortstop Samantha Alonzo (Roy C. Ketcham H.S./Wappinger Falls, N.Y.) extended the lead to 5-1 with a three-run triple to center field.

Senior catcher Danie Rice (Kingsway Regional H.S./Mullica Hill, N.J.) hit an RBI single later in the fourth inning to give Goldey-Beacom a 6-1 lead.

Junior pitcher Ashley Antosh (Twin Valley H.S./Honey Brook, Pa.) increased the Lightning's cushion to 7-1 in the sixth inning when she hit a double down the right field line to score Cavanaugh from first base. Freshman Katrina Swank (Caravel Academy/Bear, Del.) added an RBI single up the middle to score Antosh for an 8-1 lead.

The Warriors trimmed the deficit to 8-2 in the top of the seventh inning when freshman Jen Martino (Long Island, N.Y.) drove in a run on a groundout to second base, allowing sophomore Kathleen McClain (New Haven, Conn.) to score.

Peters increased her record to 5-3 on the season by allowing one run on two hits in four innings while striking out three Nyack hitters. Meanwhile, Antosh earned her second save of the season by pitching the final three innings. She recorded four strikeouts while allowing one run on just one hit.

While Cavanaugh led the Lightning offensively, sophomore Michelle Foster (Overbrook H.S./West Berlin, N.J.) contributed three hits and two runs. Alonzo, who entered the doubleheader as the fifth-leading hitter in the CACC, added two hits with three runs batted in.

Freshman Lauren Sweet (San Antonio, Texas) had two hits in the doubleheader along with a run batted in to lead Nyack in a losing effort.
