WILMINGTON, Del. - Returning home for the first time in two weeks, the Goldey-Beacom College softball team will resume its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference schedule on Tuesday afternoon when the Lightning hosts Nyack in a doubleheader at the Jackson Athletic Complex.
The first game between the Lightning and the Warriors is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
Now 13-12 overall and 3-3 in the CACC, the Lightning has split its last four games after a win and a loss against Millersville on Sunday afternoon. Goldey-Beacom rallied from a one-run deficit in the first game to earn a 3-2 victory before dropping the nightcap by a 5-1 margin.
Freshman shortstop
Samantha Alonzo (Roy C. Ketcham H.S./Wappinger Falls, N.Y.) has continued to be the Lightning's offensive leader this season. The fifth-leading hitter in the CACC with a .408 batting average, Alonzo is also tied for fifth in the conference with 20 runs batted in.
Meanwhile, sophomore outfielder
Michelle Foster (Overbrook H.S./West Berlin, N.J.) enters Tuesday's doubleheader with a seven-game hitting streak after recording a hit in each of the Lightning's games on Sunday afternoon. The Lightning's second-leading hitter with a .350 average, Foster has tallied at least one hit in 16 of her last 19 games after hitting just .176 in her first six games this year.
Currently 3-23 overall and 2-10 in the CACC, the Warriors have also split their last four games following a win and a loss at Bridgeport on Monday afternoon. Nyack dropped the first game by a 10-1 margin in five innings before posting a 4-3 verdict in the nightcap.
The Warriors dropped their first 16 games to begin the season before earning a 7-1 victory against Chestnut Hill on March 26.
Following Tuesday's doubleheader, the Lightning will play four straight road games beginning on Thursday with a doubleheader at Georgian Court.
