McRae Leads Men's Golf to 3rd Place Finish at GBC Spring Invite

Sophomore Earns Medalist Honors After Posting Lone Below-Par Score

NEWARK, Del.
– Led by junior Camden Lawrence (Stirling, Ontario, Canada), Nyack College overcame a two-shot deficit from the opening round to earn the team championship at the Goldey-Beacom College Spring Invitational at the Deerfield Golf and Tennis Club on Monday afternoon.

The Warriors finished in a tie with St. Thomas Aquinas after both schools posted a final score of 614. However, Nyack earned the title after a tiebreaker. The host Lightning finished one stroke behind in third place with a 615 team score.

Meanwhile, sophomore Patrick McRae (Markham, Canada) of Goldey-Beacom earned medalist honors after posting a 139. He shot an even-par score of 70 after opening the tournament with a 69 on Sunday. McRae was the only player in the field to finish under par.

Lawrence, who finished in a tie for sixth place, fired a second-round score of 75 to lead three Warriors among the top 10 individuals. Meanwhile, freshman Andres Aranguren (Madrid, Spain) earned eighth place with a two-round total of 153 while freshman Matthew Yun (Flushing, N.Y.) followed in ninth place with a 154.

Junior Bobby Ehrhardt (Chopticon H.S./Mechanicsville, Md.) of Wesley College finished in second place with a score of 146 after firing a final round total of 73.

The Lightning will now await the selections to the NCAA Division II Golf Regionals, which will be held in Hershey, Pa. from May 7-9.
