LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. – Led by sophomore
Patrick McRae (Markham, Canada) and junior
Jeff Whiteside (Newark H.S./Bear, Del.), the Goldey-Beacom College men's golf team finished in fourth place at the 2012 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference championship at the Whitemarsh Valley Country Club on Wednesday afternoon.
Wilmington University won its second straight CACC title after posting a two-round team total of 615. The Wildcats lowered their score from the first round by three strokes, recording a 306 in the final round.
A pair of All-CACC selections, McRae fired a second round score of 73 after opening the championship with a 76 on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Whiteside recorded a 72 in the second round following an opening round score of 77.
Sophomore
Bryan Neuhaus (Lago Vista H.S./Jonestown, Texas) overcame a rough outing in the opening round to post an 82 in the final round, earning a tie for 33rd place. Meanwhile, sophomore
Matthew Japchen (Central Bucks West H.S./New Britain, Pa.) fired an 84 in the second round to finish in a tie for 35th place.
Junior
Devon Ripley (Caesar Rodney H.S./Camden, Del.) finished in a tie for 39th place after a score of 85 on Wednesday.
Wilmington University junior
Paul Tighe (Logan, N.J./Gloucester Catholic H.S.) won the individual title after firing a 71 in the final round. He shot an opening round 76 on Tuesday.
The Lightning will finish the regular season schedule this weekend by hosting the Goldey-Beacom College Spring Invitational at Deerfield Golf Club on Sunday and Monday.
