Wilmington, DE.
The Goldey-Beacom College Lightning (3-4) opened the home schedule posting two non-conference wins against East Stroudsburg University (0-7). The Lightning posted seven hits in the game one, scoring three runs and junior pitcher Ashley Antosh tossed five scoreless innings, striking out three to seal her first win of the season. Senior Sadie Jones relieved Antosh in the sixth, hurling two scoreless innings of her own to earn her first save of the season.  Senior Cailin Cavanaugh and freshman Samantha Alonzo lead the way for the lightning in game one both going 2-3 at the dish with two singles apiece. The Lightning needed only one offensive outburst to secure their first home victory of the season. In the third inning, Senior Ashley Paige laced a single to right center field and advanced to second on a bunt single by speeder Senior Shannon Graves, both runners advanced a bag by way of a sacrifice bunt by Michelle Foster. Alonzo then roped a two-out single to left field scoring Paige and Graves for a 2-0 lightning lead. Alonzo later scored on a throwing error by the Warriors third baseman and a 3-0 lead. The three run lead was all that was needed for the pitching combo of Antosh and Jones.  The warriors threatened in the sixth, a hit batter and a fielding error put runners on second and third with no outs, the warriors hit into an unorthodox 1-3-2 double play. Jones retired the next batter to save Antosh from the jam.

In game two of the doubleheader the lightning began much more promptly sending 10 batters to the plate and scoring six runs in the first inning, that was all that was needed for winning pitcher Veronica Peters who leveled off her record for the season at one win, one loss. Peters finished the day at four and two-thirds innings, allowing two hits, five walks and four earned runs. Freshman Alexa Houston was the standout star going 2-2 at the plate, with a hit by pitch, and driving in four runs.  Fellow freshman Katrina Swank also went 2-2 and scored one run. Jones and Peters also helped themselves at the dish both with one hit apiece.
The Warriors chipped away in the top half of the fifth scoring four runs, all which were credited to Peters. Jones entered the game with the bases loaded with two outs, Brittany Zanzalari sent one to deep center field, and cleared the bases cutting the Lightning lead to 6-4. The Lightning scored two in their half of the inning and the game was made official after the completion of the fifth inning and the game was called because of darkness. The Lightning square off in a doubleheader on Friday against the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore starting at 1PM and the second game following the completion of game one.
