McRae Leads Lightning to Sixth Place at St. Thomas Aquinas

Sophomore Finishes in Fifth Place

OCEAN CITY, Md. - Sophomore Patrick McRae finished in fifth place to lead the Goldey-Beacom men's golf team to a sixth place team finish at the St. Thomas Aquinas Spring Invitational at Rum Pointe Golf Course on Sunday afternoon.

The Lightning, which shot a 311 in the opening round on Saturday, posted a 307 team score in the second round to finish with a 618, which was 15 strokes behind team champion Dowling College.

After shooting an opening round of 70 on Saturday, McRae fired a 76 in the final round to post a two-round score of 146, which was five strokes behind medalist Sylvain Deblais of UMass-Lowell.

Meanwhile, sophomore Bryan Neuhaus followed in a tie for 16th place with a two-round total of 154, including a 76 in Sunday's round. Junior Jeff Whiteside turned in a score of 156 to finish in a tie for 25th place.

Junior Devon Ripley fired a two-round total of 162 to earn a share of 46th place while sophomore Matthew Japchen tied for 52nd place by turning in a two-round total of 164.

The Lightning will compete at West Chester next Sunday and Monday.
