WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Senior catcher
Nicole Cruts (Warren Hills H.S./Washington, N.J.) recorded four hits and drove in two runs as West Chester University (14-10) swept a non-conference doubleheader over Goldey-Beacom College (11-8) at the Golden Rams' South Campus Field on Wednesday afternoon.
After earning a 5-1 victory in the opener, the Golden Rams overcame a 4-0 deficit to earn a 9-5 win in the nightcap.

In the nightcap, the Lightning exploded for four runs in the top of the third inning to take a 4-0 lead over West Chester. After sophomore

Alexa Houston (Sussex Central H.S./Georgetown, Del.) drew a walk to score Waterloo, giving Goldey-Beacom a 2-0 edge.
The Lightning added to their lead later in the inning when freshman
Katrina Swank (Caravel Academy/Bear, Del.) drove in two runs with a single up the middle.
After West Chester cut the deficit to 4-2 in the bottom of the third inning with a pair of runs, the Golden Rams scored six runs on seven hits in the fourth inning to take a commanding 8-4 lead. Sophomore
Jessica Schuck (Council Rock South H.S./Richboro, Pa.) drove in a run on a single to left field. Then, Conaway tied the game at 4-4 when she hit an RBI double on the left side.

Kelly Anderson (Caravel Academy/Middletown, Del.) gave West Chester a 7-4 advantage when she drove in two runs on a single to left field. Cruts added an RBI double to left center field, increasing the cushion to 8-4.

Waterloo trimmed the Goldey-Beacom deficit to 9-5 in the top of the sixth inning with a single to left field, scoring senior
Shannon Graves (Glassboro H.S./Glassboro, N.J.) from third base. However, the Lightning was unable to get any closer.
Cruts led the Golden Rams to the doubleheader sweep by going four-for-seven with two runs batted in while Anderson contributed two hits and three RBIs. Junior
Devon Utterback (Central Bucks South H.S./Warrington, Pa.) earned both wins in the circle. After allowing just three hits in a complete game victory, she earned the win in relief in the nightcap by allowing just three hits in 3.2 innings.
Waterloo led Goldey-Beacom in a losing effort by recording two hits with two runs and a run batted in while Swank drove in a pair of runs in the nightcap.
The Lightning, which has lost four straight games after a 10-game win streak, will return home on Saturday afternoon to host Bloomfield College in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader at 1 p.m. Meanwhile, the Golden Rams will host Millersville on Friday afternoon in a PSAC doubleheader.
