SOUTHPORT, N.C. - Led by junior
Jeff Whiteside, the Goldey-Beacom men's golf team earned a 13th place finish at the St. James Plantation Invitational at The Founders Club.
After shooting a 328 in the opening round, the Lightning posted a score of 307 in the second round. California University of Pennsylvania won the team title with a two-round score of 592, one stroke ahead of Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Whiteside overcame a rough opening round to shoot a one-under par in the second round to finish with a +10 for the tournament. Meanwhile, sophomore
Patrick McRae finished in a tie for 50th place with a two-round score of 158 while sophomore
Bryan Neuhaus was tied for 58th place by firing a two-round total of 161.

Matthew Japchen finished tied for 75th place while junior
Devon Ripley finished in a tie for 77th place.
Sylvain Debiais of UMass-Lowell earned medalist honors after firing a four-under par score of 140, including a 69 in the second round.
The Lightning will compete at the St. Thomas Aquinas Classic on Saturday and Sunday.
