LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. – Led by senior
Jeff Whiteside (Newark H.S./Bear, Del.), the Goldey-Beacom College men's golf team won its third straight event by claiming first place at the Philadelphia University Invitational at The ACE Club on Tuesday afternoon.
It marked the Lightning's second victory in two days after Goldey-Beacom defeated Philadelphia University and Richard Stockton College at a tri-match on Monday at The ACE Club.
The Lightning carded a 309 team score while Penn State-Abington finished six strokes back with a 315 team score. Meanwhile, the host Rams followed in third place after carding a 322 team score.
Whiteside earned medalist honors by posting a season-best score of 71 (-1) while junior
Patrick McRae (Markham, Ontario, Canada) followed in second place by carding a one-over-par score of 73.
Meanwhile, sophomore
Matthew Scheeper (Delsea H.S./Franklinville, N.J.) fired a round of 82 to finish in a tie for 13th place while junior
Justin Lesko (St. Mark's H.S./Newark, Del.) and senior
Devon Ripley (Caesar Rodney H.S./Camden, Del.) each posted a round of 83 to share 16th place.
The Lightning will be idle until Monday, Oct. 22 when they host the annual Goldey-Beacom College Fall Invitational at Newark Country Club.
