WILMINGTON, Del. - Looking to return to its winning ways, the Lightning men's soccer team will travel to Holy Family University on Wednesday afternoon for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match against the Tigers. Opening kickoff at Tiger Field is set for 4 p.m.
Now 2-9-0 overall and 0-7-0 in the CACC, the Lightning have dropped their last four matches after a 5-1 setback against Post University on Saturday afternoon at LaMoy Field. Freshman
Jorge Saad (San Juan, Brazil) scored the Lightning's lone marker in the loss when he converted a penalty kick in the first half for the first goal of his college career.
Meanwhile, senior goalkeeper
Ignacio Farias (Maracay, Venezuela) made three saves in the loss as the Lightning were outshot by a 17-8 margin.
Junior midfielder
Andre Jank (Campo Grande, Brazil) is the Lightning's leading scorer with two goals while junior forward
Thatcher Howell (Salesianum H.S./Wilmington, Del.) has contributed a goal with two assists. A starter in the last nine matches, Farias has posted a 3.32 goals against average while stopping 65.4 per cent of the shots he has faced.
Currently 6-4-2 on the season, the Tigers will bring a 3-2-1 CACC mark into Wednesday's match after winning their second straight match with a 1-0 victory over Bloomfield College on Saturday afternoon. Over the last six matches, the Tigers have posted a 3-1-2 record with their lone setback coming against Dominican College in a 3-2 overtime decision on Sept. 29.
Freshman midfielder
Kevin McCollick (Washington Township H.S./Washington Township, N.J.) scored the only goal of the match against Bloomfield on Saturday with his first career marker in the 42nd minute. Meanwhile, sophomore goalkeeper
Nick Agilra (Archbishop Wood H.S./Churchville, Pa.) made six saves to earn the first win and shutout of his college career.
The Tigers are led by senior forward
Dodji Freitas (Samuel Fels H.S./Philadelphia, Pa.), who has scored 12 goals with 2 assists this year. Meanwhile, senior midfielder
Jeffrey Wimsey (Father Judge H.S./Philadelphia, Pa.) has contributed three goals with three assists. Senior goalkeeper
Kelly Diaz (Palisades Park H.S./Palisades Park, N.J.) has started 11 of the Tigers' 12 matches this year and has a 2.01 goals against average while stopping 68.2 per cent of the shots he has faced.
The Lightning will be looking to avenge last year's 4-2 loss against the Tigers. Jank and senior
Matt Bik (Sacred Heart H.S./Vineland, N.J.) tallied the Lightning's goals in the loss while Farias contributed seven saves.
The Lightning will return home after Wednesday's match to face Caldwell College in the team's annual Homecoming match on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Nancy Churchman-Sawin Field on the Goldey-Beacom campus. It will start a quick two-match homestand for the Lightning.
