JEFFERSONVILLE, Pa. – Led by senior
Jeff Whiteside (Newark H.S./Bear, Del.), the Goldey-Beacom College men's golf team finished in first place out of six teams at the Griffin Invitational hosted by Chestnut Hill College at the Westover Golf Club on Monday afternoon.
The Lightning posted a 307 team score to earn the team title while the University of the Sciences finished three strokes back with a 310 team score. Meanwhile, Felician finished in third place after posting a 312 team score while the host Griffins took fourth place with a 323 total score.
Whiteside led the Lightning to the victory by finishing in second place with a season-low score of 72 while junior
Patrick McRae (Markham, Ontario, Canada) followed with a 74.
Sophomore
Matthew Scheeper (Delsea H.S./Franklinville, N.J.) carded a 79 while senior
Devon Ripley (Caesar Rodney H.S./Camden, Del.) followed with an 82.
Junior
Justin Lesko (St. Mark's H.S./Newark, Del.) posted an 83 to round out the Lightning's lineup.
The Lightning will be idle until Monday, Oct. 8 when they compete against Philadelphia University and Richard Stockton College in a tri-match.
