BERLIN, Conn. - The Goldey-Beacom College men's golf team had an impressive third-place showing in the 15-team Northeast Intercollegiate Golf event hosted by Post University. The Lightning (615) finished just 10 strokes back of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference power Post University and 18 strokes back of defending conference champions and first-place finisher Wilmington University.
Sophomore
Bryan Neuhaus (Jonestown, Tex., Lago Vista H.S.) paced the Lightning by shooting a team-best 153 to finish in a three-way tie for 11th place with Wilmington's Scott Davidson and John Perrine. The second-year player from Jonestown, Texas led the Lightning by carding a 76 in the first-round. He then shot a 77 in the second round to finish with a 153.
Junior
Devon Ripley shot 77 in both rounds and was just a stroke back of Neuhaus as he finished in a four-way tie for 14th place. Sophomore
Patrick McRae improved by three strokes in his second round (79, 76) was only two strokes back of Neuhaus to be among seven players tied for 18th place.
Juniors
Jeff Whiteside and
Michael Coppa, Jr. were both tied for 25th as each shot a 157.
