LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. – The Goldey-Beacom College golf team took first place in a tri-match at The Ace Club on Sat. afternoon with an overall score of 314. The Lightning bested host PhilaU (342) and Neumann University (342).
GBC's five individual golfers all placed in the top-five for the day. Sophomore transfer Jeff Whiteside was the individual champion, shooting a 76 in the one-round tournament.
Senior Wes Hood was next, coming in at second place with a score of 78, followed by sophomores Michael Coppa and Devon Ripley, who both shot 80 to tie for third. Freshman Bryan Neuhaus finished tied for fifth with a score of 82.
Next up for GBC is the two-day, 36-hole Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference tournament, hosted by Chestnut Hill College at Whitemarsh Valley Country Club in Lafayette Hill, Pa.
The Lightning finished third last year with a score of 635 (321, 314), led by Ripley's 155 (76, 79) to finish in a tie for fifth place.
