OCEAN CITY, Md. – Senior Wes Hood and sophomore transfer Jeff Whiteside finished tied for eighth and 12th place, respectively as they paced the Goldey-Beacom College golf team to a fifth place finish at the St. Thomas Aquinas Spring Invitational at Rum Pointe Golf Course on Mar. 18-19.
The Lightning finished with a total team score of 626, 12 strokes back of fourth-place Bentley and three strokes better than sixth-place Nyack. The host Spartans took first with a score of 590, with American International (604) and Dowling (608) rounding out the top three. The College of St. Rose (629) was seventh, and Holy Family (651), Shepherd (669) and Dominican (681) rounded out the scoring.
Hood shot a 152 (77, 75, +8) for the two-round par-72 tournament and was tied with three other players for eighth place. Whiteside, in his second tournament since joining the Lightning, shot 153 (78, 75, +9) and was tied with Bentley's Nick Clarke for 12th place.
